Barbara Cygler was appointed General Manager GSK Romania on April 1st, 2014.
With an extensive experience of over 15 years in the pharma industry, Barbara joined GSK Romania in April 2012, as Business Unit Director for the Retail division, being afterwards appointed Specialty Care Business Unit Director.
Prior to joining GSK Romania, Barbara held different roles in GSK France (starting 2007), such as Respiratory&Osteoporosis Marketing Director, Sales Director Retail and Marketing & Sales Director Primary Care. Before joining GSK, Barbara worked in top pharma companies Sanofi Aventis and Boehringer, in therapeutic areas such as thrombosis and atherothrombosis.
As General Manager of GSK Romania, Barbara is responsible for the growth and development of GSK pharma division - with a portfolio including over 62 brands in important therapeutic areas, as well as a complex portfolio of paediatric and adult vaccines, along with clinical studies developed at local level.
With strong roots of 25 years in Romania, GSK Group is one of the biggest local players in the pharma industry, with complex operations going from commercialization of pharma products (GSK Pharma and GSK Consumer Healthcare) to distribution (Europharm Distributie) and production (GSK Factory in Brasov), a business of over EUR 500 million and 1,000 employees at the end of 2013.
Barbara is Board Member of the Foreign Investors Council, one of most reputable business associations in Romania, and, also, a Board Member of The Romanian Association of International Medicine Manufacturers (ARPIM). GSK also activates in the Local American Working Group (LAWG) and the American Chamber of Commerce Romania (AmCham).
Of French origins, Barbara Cygler, age 42, graduated DEUG de Sciences Economiques et de Gestion la Universite Paris Pantheon-Sorbonne and holds a Master of Pharmaceutical Marketing (G.S.A.).
