A former official of the Ministry of Foreign Trade, Daniel Anghel joined PwC in 1997. Daniel Anghel leads the PricewaterhouseCoopers Romania Indirect Tax Group.|
He is an expert in VAT, customs and international trade, specialising in issues related to the management of Indirect Tax risks, planning to minimise the impact of Indirect Taxes and the optimisation of cross-border operations. Earlier this year Daniel was appointed as the new Ethics and Business Conduct leader for PwC Romania.
Daniel has a Degree in Economics from the Academy of Economic Studies, Bucharest, and a Professional Certificate in Management from the Open University through the London Business School. He is a board member of the CEE/CIS Indirect Tax Executive. He is also a member of the American Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of Tax Consultants.
Daniel has been seconded to The Netherlands, Poland, Hungary and The Czech Republic for 6 months to get a better understanding of where the practice / country would be heading immediately following the Romania's EU Accession.
Daniel has been working continuously for clients in a large range of industries, out of which the more representative are Automotive, Oil & Gas, Industrial Products, Telecommunication, Retail and Consumer.
He lobbied effectively to amend the Fiscal Code and the Fiscal Procedural Code and also contributed to assisting the Romanian Ministry of Finance in transposing the VAT directive into the Romanian legislation between 2006-2008. He is also constantly involved in environment-related matters both by proposing amendments to the relevant legislation (e.g. waste management) and by offering assistance to clients.
